This year, our community continues to grow. We have welcomed many new students, families, and staff members to CSM, and we are so grateful for the energy, gifts, experiences, and new connections they bring to our school. Whether you have been part of Children of St. Martha for many years or are joining us for the very first time, we hope you quickly discover what makes this community such a special place to belong.
At Children of St. Martha School, we pride ourselves on being more than a place of learning. We are a vibrant, faith-filled community where every child is known, valued, supported, and encouraged to discover who they are becoming. Guided by our motto, Belong. Grow. Shine., we strive to create a school where students experience a strong sense of belonging, are challenged to grow in faith and learning, and are empowered to shine through their unique gifts and talents.
Rooted in faith and guided by love, our mission is to celebrate each child, honour connection, foster growth, and inspire every learner to be kind, courageous, and full of hope. Our commitment is to nurture the spiritual, academic, social, and personal development of every child while creating a community where students and families experience kindness, respect, joy, and welcome.
In 2023, we were honoured to receive our Blackfoot name from Elder Peter Strikes with a Gun: Naatoowootak’oyis – Holy Spirit Lodge. This name reflects our school as a place of welcome, safety, relational learning, and deep belonging. It reminds us that our school is much more than a building — it is a gathering place where relationships matter and where every child deserves to be seen, valued, and supported.
We are incredibly fortunate to be part of a diverse and growing community. The many cultures, languages, experiences, strengths, and perspectives represented within our school make us stronger. Through our learning, celebrations, relationships, and commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, we continue working to create a community where every person knows that they belong and where we learn both from and alongside one another.
Our mission, vision, and school logo reflect both who we are and who we continue to become. The braided sweetgrass in our logo symbolizes strength, unity, and connection, weaving together faith, learning, and belonging. The rising sunburst represents the light of Christ, the light within each child, and the promise of a hopeful future. Together, these images remind us of the tremendous potential within every learner and our shared responsibility to help that potential grow.
Learning at CSM extends well beyond individual classrooms. Through opportunities such as our cross-grade and cross-curricular STEAM & DREAM programming, students learn alongside children and adults throughout our school community. These experiences encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, leadership, collaboration, and confidence while giving students opportunities to explore their interests and discover new strengths.
At the heart of all of this work is our exceptional staff. Our teachers and support staff bring tremendous care, expertise, creativity, and commitment to our students each day. They understand that excellent teaching and strong relationships belong together. Our classrooms are places where students are challenged, encouraged, supported, and given opportunities to take risks, ask questions, make mistakes, discover, and grow.
We have wonderful plans for the 2026–27 school year and are excited about the learning, faith experiences, celebrations, community events, and opportunities for connection ahead. Most importantly, we look forward to another year of learning and growing together.
Families are an essential part of our school community, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us each day. We welcome your questions, ideas, participation, and partnership as we work together to support your children.
